Do We Really Know America? The Numbers Say No!
Americans often have a distorted view of their own country, thinking things are way different than they actually are. For example, a recent poll shows that people believe 20% of the U.S. is Muslim, when it’s really just 1%. We also overestimate the number of wealthy households and the percentage of Black Americans. This leads to a lot of misconceptions about society. I believe this happens because we’re stuck in our own bubbles, both online and offline. Let’s dig into why our perceptions are so off and what it means for us.
